We supply suede nubuck shoe upper leather in 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 mm, brushed on a microfiber base and matched to your panel layout. We have devoted 25 years to synthetic leather for footwear factories that cut, stitch and last in house. We are expecting your target gauge and color reference, so the sample goes straight onto your cutting table.
Suede nubuck shoes are judged on three details: nap evenness, shade stability between panels, and how the vamp looks after a season of walking.
Our nubuck is brushed on a microfiber nonwoven base, not a woven fabric. That base keeps the cut edge clean at the eyestay, the nap dense after skiving, and two rolls from one lot reading as one color. It is 100% synthetic and animal free: no hide grading, no chrome, no variance between skins.
Gauge decides the shoe. 1.2 mm folds without bulk in boat shoes and low-profile sneakers. 1.4 mm holds a clean line on a chukka quarter. 1.6 mm gives ankle boots body for the counter and collar. Confirm the final gauge on your prototype: lining, foam and reinforcement change the finished feel.
One nap direction, set once. The nap is brushed in a single direction and fixed, so it does not flip from smooth to rough between vamp and quarter, the failure that makes nubuck shoes look mismatched. Rolls ship with a nap arrow; cut every panel the same way.
Made for the toe crease. We run Bally flex at room temperature and, on request, at -10 C, then check the crease on a lasted upper. We look for cracking, and whether the nap lifts back.
Water repellent without PFAS. A fluorine-free DWR finish is standard. Spray rating is tested per order against the method you name, and the finish can be renewed at the factory after cleaning.
Applications: boat and deck shoes, chukka boots, retro sneakers, kids' shoes, sandal straps, boot collars, heel counter lining.
Base coagulation, buffing, brushing, DWR finishing and inspection run as one line under one lot number. Every roll is measured at three points across the width, and shade is read against the approved swatch under D65 before packing.
Reports travel with the shipment: REACH SVHC, RoHS, ISO 105 colorfastness to rubbing dry and wet, Martindale abrasion and Bally flex, all run on the construction you order. Quality system is ISO 9001 certified. Test method and acceptance limit are written into the purchase specification.
1.2 mm or 1.6 mm for a chukka boot? Start at 1.4 mm. It carries the quarter and collar without the bulk 1.6 mm adds at the eyestay. Go to 1.6 mm only if the upper is heavily reinforced or felt lined.
Panels from the same roll look different after cutting. Why? Nap direction. Cut one panel with the nap and the next against it, and the second reads darker. Mark the arrow, lay your pattern one way, and approve color with the nap combed as it will sit on the shoe.
Will dark nubuck crock onto white socks or lining? Crocking is a finish and dye question, not a color question. We test dry and wet rub on the ordered shade and report the result; matching the lining shade helps.
Is the water repellent PFAS free, and does it survive cleaning? The standard finish is fluorine free. Spray rating is reported per order. After brushing and foam cleaning the effect fades, and is restored with a retail nubuck protector.
How should the finished shoe be cleaned without matting the nap? Dry brush, then foam cleaner worked in with a soft brush, wipe, and dry away from heat. Solvent and washing machine cycles flatten the nap and lift the DWR.
